(a) Ball-Park Estimate/Figure – See:  Phrasal Adjectives – Letter “B” for “Ball”

(the/a) Snowball Effect – This is an idiomatic phrasal noun which describes something, that by its own action, gets bigger, larger, stronger, more powerful, better, or worse (depending on what “it” exactly is.)  The term comes from the idea that when a small ball of snow rolls down a hill, or when someone is making a snowman, as the ball is rolled across the snow, the ball gets bigger and bigger as it picks up the snow that it is rolled over.
